Spring Has Sprung… And So Have Our Classes!

Dye & CarrotsHello Friends! Just a quick update and reminder that we have TWO upcoming classes in March, so mark your calendars and come out to see us in action…

The first offering is one of our classic, long form instructional cooking classes, hosted by the Fullerton Arboretum. This class, A Springtime Menu: Bright and Clean Flavors, will be held on Thursday March 9th, at 6pm. Reserve your spot via the Fullerton Arboretum’s website here. This class includes a recipe packet, a full multi-course dinner, wine and of course our infamous instruction! On the Menu: Goat Cheese and Crème Fraiche Crostini, Carrot Ginger Soup, Spring Greens with Lemon Vinaigrette, Braised Mustard Chicken with Pappardelle and Lemon Curd with Scented Lavender Cream. Testing Recipes for Next Week’s Class!

We are so excited to be back at the Fullerton Arboretum this Thursday, August 27th for our cooking class, “Simple & Sophisticated Entertaining.” (If you haven’t had the chance to sign up, follow this link to the Fullerton Arboretum’s registration page!)

In class, we’ll be preparing:

  • Crostini with Manchego Cheese
  • Seasonal Tomato Salad with Sherry Vinegar
  • Marinated Grilled Beef with Carrot Top Chimichurri
  • Dulce de Leche Cookies (known as Alfajores)

New Classes! The Jonathans are Returning to the Arboretum Kitchen!

We are so pleased to announce that Jonathan Duffy Davis and Jonathan Dye will be returning to the Fullerton Arboretum for ongoing demonstration style cooking classes this Spring and Summer!  Beginning this Thursday, April 23rd, the Jonathans will bring you insightful menus, dedicated instruction and lots of fun in a selection of monthly classes. For anyone who has not attended these classes in the past, know that they include both an evening of detailed and entertaining instruction, as well as a full multi-course dinner in the form of the menu being taught. Classes make for a great night out, so tell your friends, sign up now and save the dates!

Big news folks! To kick-off a new cooking program, the Fullerton Arboretum has asked Jonathan Duffy Davis and Jonathan Dye to host the first cooking class of the 2015 season! We are happy to announce that on Thursday, February 26th at 6pm OurLocaltopia will be back in the Arboretum’s kitchen for a fun and educational demonstration style cooking class… And of course we want you to join us!

This Wednesday (April 30th), OurLocaltopia is back at the Yorba Linda Public Library for a free class on cooking with fresh herbs! Join us in the downstairs community room at 7pm and enjoy an evening of culinary eduction and demonstration taught by Jonathan Dye and Jonathan Duffy Davis. Samples of the food prepared will be available for tasting and copies of the recipes will be passed out. Come one, come all!

Don’t forget! This Wednesday, OurLocaltopia is teaching another free cooking class at the Yorba Linda Public Library, as part of the “Food For Thought” series. This week’s class focuses on Garden to Table Cooking and will cover how to make the most out of your backyard edible garden or your weekly farmers market spoils. The Jonathans will provide up close demonstrations of at least four unique dishes, with samples and recipes available to the audience. Class will be held in the Library’s downstairs community room and will run from 7pm to about 8:30pm. Bring your friends, and enjoy a free night of delicious culinary education! See ya there!

OurLocaltopia is excited to present a class on creating healthy packed lunches for adults and teens on Wednesday January 29th at the Yorba Linda Public Library, from 7pm to 8:30pm. This class is FREE to all members of the community! Kick the habit of lunch hour fast food, and spend the evening with us exploring just how beautiful, healthy and delicious a thoughtfully packed lunch can be!
