New Classes! The Jonathans are Returning to the Arboretum Kitchen!


We are so pleased to announce that Jonathan Duffy Davis and Jonathan Dye will be returning to the Fullerton Arboretum for ongoing demonstration style cooking classes this Spring and Summer!  Beginning this Thursday, April 23rd, the Jonathans will bring you insightful menus, dedicated instruction and lots of fun in a selection of monthly classes. For anyone who has not attended these classes in the past, know that they include both an evening of detailed and entertaining instruction, as well as a full multi-course dinner in the form of the menu being taught. Classes make for a great night out, so tell your friends, sign up now and save the dates!

April 23, 2015 – A Seasonal and Sophisticated Entertaining Menu

Focus on a menu that is exciting and fulfilling, without meat as the centerpiece!  We guarantee you won’t miss the meat in these preparations, which showcase abundant spring produce at its best. Celebrate the lively flavors of spring with this meatless menu. $60 per person.

On The Menu: Lemon Prosecco Fizzes, Aromatic Herb Flatbreads, Seasonal Greens with Fennel, Fruit and a Dijon Vinaigrette, Asparagus Goat Cheese Tart, and Strawberry Lavender Hand Pies served with Ice Cream.

May 28, 2015 – Early Summer Celebration

A popular practice in restaurants, farm-to-table cooking is easy to do at home.  We’ll show you how to prepare a dinner that incorporates the freshest early summer produce.  In this class you’ll discover creative ways to feature vegetables and fruits from your farmer’s market or even your garden.  We’ll look at every course of the meal, from the appetizer through the desert. $60 per person.

On The Menu: White Wine and Berry Spritzer, Crudite with Aioli, Beet and Butter Lettuce Salad, Grilled Fennel-Rubbed Pork Loin with Citrus Compote and Frozen Lemon Mousse.

June 25, 2015 – All-American Barbeque

From the appetizer to the dessert, every dish on this menu can be cooked on your backyard barbecue.  What better way to welcome the Summer Grilling Season? These creative recipes will inspire you, highlighting some of summer’s best flavors. $60 per person.

On The Menu: Classic Mint Juleps, Fresh Fried Herbed Potato Crisps, Updated Wedge Salad with Homemade Buttermilk Ranch, Home-Ground Tri-Tip Burgers with Classic Accompaniments, Peach Cobbler with Lavender Cream.

July 23, 2015 – Al-Fresco Anytime!

This class focuses on preparations with summer’s abundant produce, ideal for enjoying outdoors on a warm evening with friends and family. Discover the pleasures of eating seasonally and locally.  We will show you how to transform summer’s bountiful produce into an impressive meal.  $60 per person.

On The Menu: “Sculaccione” – A Campari and Tequila Cocktail, Italian Gazpacho, Caramelized Garlic Tart with Crème Fraiche, Composed Salad of Bitter Greens and Jonathan’s Famous Panna Cotta.

August 27, 2015 – Simple and Sophisticated Entertaining

Whether it’s a simple supper or an impromptu dinner party, there are few things more enjoyable than sharing a delicious meal with family and friends, even on a busy weeknight!  We’ll show you how easy it is to host an elegant dinner for friends. To help you entertain with ease and sophistication, we’ll teach you how to make a selection of savory dishes sure to delight. $60 per person.

On The Menu: White Wine Sangria with Tropical Fruit, Crostini with Manchego Cheese, Seasonal Tomato Salad with Sherry Vinegar, Marinated Grilled Beef with Carrot-Top Chimichuri and Dulce de Leche Cookies.

September 24, 2015 – A New Approach to Comfort Food

When summer produce is gone, it’s time to turn to comfort food as we move into the Fall Season.  This class will feature some seasonal favorites that will delight your dinner guests with new twists and applications .  Join us for a seasonally based class that will create the perfect experience to inspire the comfort food cook in you. $60 per person.

On The Menu: Maple Bourbon Sours, Honey Mustard Biscuit Sliders, Sauteed Greens with Bacon, Brined Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Chocolate Mayonnaise Layer Cake.
