Two Thursdays ago (May 16th), the Fullerton Arboretum’s Thursdays in the Kitchen classes took on a new venue… the outdoors! Thursdays in the Kitchen is typically held in the Arboretum’s catering kitchen, but the gorgeous late spring weather coaxed this class into the open air… Set amongst the rows of veggies, wildflowers, natives and exotics displayed in the Arboretum’s Potting Shed garden shop, class participants learned how to prepare food perfect for an outdoor party. The menu included The menu included rhubarb elderflower bellinis, crostini with herbed goat cheese and kumquats, orzo with grilled shrimp, tricolore salade with parmesan, grilled lamb with mint gremolata, marinated chicken skewers with peanut sauce and Alicia Hitchcock’s famous cherry pie! It was an refreshing evening.
